You've told me what you wanted for Mother's Day ... now tell me ....
What did you get??
My eight year old brought me breakfast in bed: dry fruit loops, a chocolate pudding cup, two ritz crackers, and a strawberry daquiri wine cooler. Oh well, it's the thought that counts.
My wonderful husband gave me a gift that keeps giving. He knows I love roses, but he also knows I feel store bought roses are not in our budget. For Valentines he gave me three beautiful rose bushes so that I would always have roses and know he loved me. For Mother's Day he added three more bushes to my collection of everlasting love blooms. He also cooked me a wonderful meal on the outdoor grill. I think that was pretty wonderful.
My 3 year old got a stomach flu, I got to cook a full Sunday dinner (and clean up) and my 6 year old daughter threw a rock that split the neighbor's head open! This is not usually the drill, but I am glad this Mother's Day is over!
I got exactly what I wanted. My son gave me a book of poems he wrote himself and a shirt he painted. My daughter bought me a Barbie statue for my miniature box and wrote me a Mother's Day poem. My kids made me french toast for breakfast. My husband took my son out and my daughter went to the movies - leaving me HOME ALONE for over 3 hours. It was HEAVEN!!
I woke up with the blues.I knew this day would be nothing special to my family.Boy, was I wrong!I got up to cards and flowers and another coffee cup that said "#1 MOM".My husband gave me the day off!he did the dishes, bathed the children, played and read with them, and took us all out for a fabulous dinner. They gave me 4 hours of uninterrupted(well sort of) computer play time. I perused your whole web site and a few others. I felt very loved and most of all appreciated. I couldn't have asked for a better day.
My husband and sons (ages 2 1/2 and 3 months) got me a gift certificate for a body massage, body polish, facial, manicure and pedicure. My husband, Pat and son, Landon gave this gift to me for Christmas last year. I had my massage about six weeks after the birth of our second son. I enjoyed it so much that they decided to give it to me again--this time for Mother's Day. I can't wait to redeem the certificate!
For mother's day, I got a ruby and diamond ring(special because MD huubby saved lunch money for a year to buy it), he did 2 loads of laundry for me and cooked dinner. But the most special thing I got was my 2 year old son came up to me and said "I love you mommy" without me saying it first.
Me, my mother, and my one year old son had gone to my grandmothers the day before for mother's day and her birthday. After a nice lunch, we spent the day driving home (4 1/2 hr trip). When I arrived home, my husband had made me dinner! He had set up a picnic in the living room floor for after our son went to bed. It was complete with candles and chilled wine, not to mention mother's day cards from both him and one from our son, Jackson. It was a very nice first mother's day for me!!
My husband gave me six coupons for days off--meaning he will take six days off, whenever I ask him, to watch the kids so that I can have some time to myself. What a guy!
I got 2 outfits for Barbie from my 5 year old who likes to do his own shopping, clothes and an Anastasia CD from my husband and littlest children, but the best present was being able to spend the day playing with my boys, and having my son say "I love you, Mom"
I got a clean living room and kitchen from hubby - for an hour or so. I got a made-by-force card from my teenagers, a smile from my 5-month-old, the usual arguing and complaining, and a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. My best relief for Mother's Day weekend was a very nice church service - my sanctuary! (But I am not complaining. I will desperately miss all of the craziness when they are gone!)
Two flowers planted in hand-painted pots (estimated survival time -- one week) and the brand new Lois McMaster Bujold book, Komarr, that my husband and I have both been anxiously awaiting, and my wonderful husband let ME be the first to read it!
First I slept in. Then Opened homemade cards and gifts(the best kind) from my boys, After that it was off to Shoney's for breakfast(along with every other mommy in Mobile) A visit with my mother & a trip to Barnes & Noble to browse and buy. Home to relax, later we grilled out and ate dinner at the picnic table. My husband really thought this one out;-) It was a great day!!
I've got a 6 year old little girl and she gave me the usual school made card which was fantastic. Lunch with my family at a gourmet eatery was great. But, by far my best gift this year was to feel my unborn babe (I'm 5 months pregnant) kick for the very first time. It was by far the most magical thing to happen to me on Mother's Day.
Cute, handmade cards done at school from my 1st & 2nd graders ... a computer made card and breakfast in bed consisting of a breakfast Hot Pocket, piece of toast and glass of milk from Daddy...
I only got 2 cards, from a friend and a sister, but thats ok i will not be an "official" mom until october, so it was really nice for other moms to think of me when it was really their day!
Earrings--the very same kind they gave me last year for Mother's Day! They're gorgeous and I wear them all the time-- how could they not have noticed?!?
